{We write about stuff we think you’ll like and that we actually use ourselves. We aim to highlight products and services you might find interesting, and if you buy them, we may get a small share of the revenue at no cost to you.}
When I find a great deal I want to share it. I usually repost on Facebook but I want to start sharing here so that I might reach a larger audience. After all, I know I’m not the only one who loves to save money and when it comes to leaving a smaller environmental footprint, being able to spread the word far and wide is a bonus.
If you’re still lugging plastic jugs of laundry detergent from the store and wondering what to do with all those plastic containers (or non-recyclable zipper bags) that your dishwasher detergent came in then this is for you. If you want to stock up on these types of supplies at a fraction of the cost…and switch to products that happen to be a bit kinder to the environment than some of the harsher detergents you might be using now then you’re in the right place.
I recently posted about some eco-friendly changes we made here at Mutiny Ranch. One of those changes was the use of Dropps for our laundry and dishwasher needs. We’ve been using Dropps for about 2 years now and I love them. They clean just as well as some of the name brands but without the harsh scents or chemicals. And they clean better than a few of the “all-natural” versions that often left our clothes dingy or smelly.
Dropps are delivered right to your door, and while this doesn’t seem very eco-friendly they have adopted practices to make this carbon-neutral shipping. They’ve also partnered with Oceana to reduce plastics in our oceans. In reading their mission statement and blog posts I feel like they really care and are setting an example for other companies.
So about that killer deal…
I recently found a great deal on Groupon for purchasing Dropps products at up to 55% off. Now, Dropps already ahs competitive prices and free shipping but who doesn’t want to save a few bucks? I purchased 2 vouchers worth $100 each. My cost? $33.75 each.
That’s $200 worth of products for $67.50.
But How?!?!
- First came the Groupon deal. To be honest, I think it came up in my Facebook feed after I blogged about it this past fall. But I’m trying to make it easy for you (and make a little commission that will cost you nothing) so I have a direct link here where you can purchase up to a $100 voucher for just $45.
https://www.groupon.com/deals/dropps-1 - Next, I used the Honey App/Extension to scan for valid coupon codes. This simple to use app saved me an additional $11.25 on each voucher. You can get your very easy to install Honey App right here. {Note: the coupon codes in the Honey App are constantly changing so you may save more or less depending on which coupons are active at the time you use it.}The first 2 people to add the app with the link above will receive a $10 in Honey Gold which can be used like a gift card at certain stores. The app is free to use and it works. When I find something on Amazon it automatically scans to see if that’s the best deal on that item and, with one click, will swap it out in your cart for the best deal. It also allows you to add an item to a “drop list” so if the price drops you’ll receive an email. Honey has worked on other online stores to automatically apply coupon codes saving me money on a variety of goods from used books to clothing.
3. Third, be sure that you choose the “subscribe & save” option when you place an order on the Dropps website. This gives you the best pricing with a 20% discount. You can also click the “view our bulk box” right above the “add to cart” button. That will take you to a screen where you can purchase a huge quantity of product at the very best price. This is how I was able to buy 804 loads of dishwasher Dropps for $33.75! {Note: My cart total was $100 but when I applied my Groupon voucher it zeroed out the total. Remember, I purchased my voucher for $45 and then saved an ADDITIONAL $11.25 with the Honey App bringing my actual cost to $33.75.}
Dropps allows you to cancel your subscription at any time…including immediately after placing an order. They also send you an email reminder about upcoming subscription shipments so if you happen to forget to cancel you have a reminder before being charged for future automatic orders.
So that’s it! It’s not nearly as confusing or difficult as it may sound. But it does take a few steps, and therefore a few minutes of your time, to get this deal but the cost savings are so high that it’s worth it! And you only need to install Honey once for ongoing savings at places you might already shop online.
I hope that helps a few of you to save money and reduce plastics. Especially if, like me, local bulk buying options don’t exist or you might not have had the greatest homemade laundry detergent experiences. Happy washing!!
